Virginia Conference Vision Statement

St. James United Methodist Church is affiliated with the Staunton District of the Virginia Conference of The United Methodist Church.

The Virginia Conference Vision Statement is, “We envision churches where all God’s people are welcomed at table, nurtured and transformed to be Christ to others in the world.”

St. James is committed to reaching out to all persons in our community and the world to share the love of God through Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit.

We affirm the Bible as the source of all that is necessary and sufficient for salvation.

Through Scripture the living Christ meets us in the experience of redeeming grace.  Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we acknowledge the primacy of Scripture, utilizing tradition, experience and reason to help us understand its meaning.

In addition to the regular Sunday services, St. James offers many opportunities to enrich the worship experience through participation in the community Sunrise Service and Thanksgiving Service and Laity Leadership Sunday Service.
